About This Item
Heritage Books Inc.. New. (2000) 2006. Paperback. 135 pages. Burlington County, situated in the south-central region of present-day New Jersey, was established in 1694. The author has abstracted information gleaned from copies of recorded deeds maintained at the Burlington County Courthouse, in Mount Holly, New Jersey. The significant Quaker influence in this county is reflected in the numerous records of slave manumissions which name the slave, owner, justices and overseers of the poor. Other documents recorded in these books include Release of Dower, Creditor's Agreements, Division of Property amongst heirs, and more. The majority of the documents recorded in these books pertain to deeds from the 1750s through the 1790s, but also contain a rich source of genealogical information from the early 1700s. Documents are listed in the order in which they were recorded, and contain (as available) pertinent dates, the names of wives, children, siblings, parents, previous property owners, adjoining property owners, and witnesses. A fullname index, comprising every legible name recorded, is included. .
