The first edition of this interesting work depicting the progress and development of travel over the course of fifty years. First edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt detailing to the front cover and to the spine.Written by Scottish journalist and author, William Fraser Rae. 'The Business of Travel' describes the methods of the well-known and long-standing travel agents, Thomas Cook and Sons, who led the way for many similar companies. Rae describes the growth in the industry, from the first excursion by rail to changes in the firm and the improvements in travel to far-off countries. With a chapter on Mr. J. M. Cook, the head of the firm who pioneered much of this change. In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt detailing to the front cover and to the spine. Externally, smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and to the joints. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, causing slight fraying to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean. Very Good
