About This Item

Tom Klinger Publishing. Hardcover. New. Originally this line was the route of the Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad. Reaching from Denver, Colorado along the South Platte River to the entrance of the South Platte Canon, the line went up the canon and over the mountains to reach a mining district known as the Mineral Belt. The DSP&P later became a subsidiary of the Colorado & Southern railroad. Today, only a small branch of the line south of downtown Denver remains in operation. The former grade in the greater Denver area has been lost to urban development. The Mineral Belt was an area of great mineral wealth, and the railroad was needed to haul the gold, silver, lead, molybdenum, tungsten, zinc, coal and other less valuable mineral deposits down out of the mountains. But this was not the only traffic on the line, lumber and cattle were also sources of traffic. Many historical Black and White photographs supplement the text, including pictures of the steamers with their unique ""Bear Trap"" spark arrestors. The book is printed on high-quality, glossy paper. Contents: Dedication, Introduction, Map, pp. 4-8, Denver to Platte Canon, pp. 9-30, Lower Platte Canon, pp. 31-60, On to Buffalo, pp. 61-94, Buffalo and Pine Grove, 95-122, Beyond Pine Grove, pp. 123-138, Baileys to Altruria, pp. 139-164, Shawnee to Webster, pp. 165-184, Over Kenosha to King and Como, pp. 185-204, Como, pp. 205-226, Como-Alma Subdivision, pp. 227-244, Boreas Pass, pp. 245-276, Beyond Breckenridge, pp. 277-288, Model T Ford, pp. 289-298, Scrapping Operations, pp. 299-326, Historical Stations and Siding Names, pp. 327-329, Highway Mileage, pg. 330, 1920 Auto Log and Scrapping Dates, pg. 331, 1922 Time Table Platte Canon Division, pg. 332, Poem, pg. 333, Index, pp. 334-336. Terms of Sale

Arizona Hobbies LLC

I reduce shipping for books that weigh less than 1 lb. with packaging. International shipping rates are quoted for a 1 lb. book. International orders that weigh more than 1 lb. will require additional shipping fees.

All books are shipped sealed in plastic to help prevent damage. Sturdy boxes are used often with bubble-wrap and additional padding. Thin titles may ship in a sturdy mailer with cardboard reinforcing. You will not receive 'rounded' books from Arizona Hobbies as you will from Amazon.com with their shoddy packaging.

A a bar code label with USPS a Tracking/Delivery Confirmation number is applied to your shipment. You will be advised of via email of the tracking when your order ships. USPS Media Mail (books, DVDs, CDs, maps) transit time is almost as good as UPS Ground today. Using a bar code label helps move the mail more quickly.

I've only had only six lost and three damaged shipments out of 20,000+ since 1999. This includes International shipments. I use a freight forwarder for International shipments. Canadian shipments bypass the USPS and go directly to Windsor, Ontario via my freight forwarder. It may take up to 2 weeks before Canada Post tracking information is available as we must consolidate orders to forward.

Defective DVDs will be replaced by the same title if available. Since most of my books are in NEW CONDITION and still in the printers plastic shrink-wrap, opened and thumbed through titles become used and a 20 percent re-stocking/used charge will apply plus the shipping costs incurred.

About Arizona Hobbies LLC

Arizona Hobbies sells new, used and out-of-print railroad books, train videos, railroad maps and atlases though our Internet Store. We only have a warehouse for now with no public access.

We package books to arrive undamaged in boxes or heavy cardboard mailers. We will never ship a book in a padded mailer! You know who has many booksellers selling through their website -and the packaging is terrible. Save yourself the grief of a damaged book and order from us!

Our prices are so good many booksellers list our inventory elsewhere and have us drop-ship to the buyer. Save your money and shop here first!

Our inventory is cataloged by Publisher. All titles we stock by that publisher will be listed there.
