Original half morocco over blind-stamped cloth with black-stamped lettering on spine. Raised bands. Decorative endpapers. Imperial Coat of arms on title page. Striking collation of 54 albumen prints depicting French emperor Napoleon III's impressive collection of European arms and armors from the 15th to 18th centuries. Five proceeding prints illustrate a floor plan of the castle, an outside view of Pierrefonds before and after its restoration, and two views of the stunning Salle des Preuses, prestigious showroom for the French emperor's large collection. Each photographic plate is captioned on individual protective tissue guard. The prints are mounted on heavy cardstock. Rubbing along edges of binding. 3/4" closed tear on upper front joint. Some discoloration and scuffing on covers. Previous owner's inscription at verso of fly leaf, and dated 1882. Moderate sunning and foxing along paper margin. Captions in French. Binding in overall fair, interior in good, prints in good+ to very good condition.
