LONDON: CASSELL AND COMPANY, 1952 Khaki Cloth boards with blue titles to spine, 205 x 140 mm approx. viii + 216 . 6 line illustrations by Brian Robb as called for + a number of other unspecified chapter head and tail vignettes and a double page map - The Battle of El Alamein. First Edition 1952. Signed by both Geoffrey and Natalie Barkas in ink to the front free end paper.A film director by profession the author led the Middle East Command Camouflage Directorate in WWII which played a decisive part in deceiving Rommel into believing the main thrust of the Allied assault to regain North Africa from the Axis forces would be in the South.(Operation Bertram). Ink signatures as above. A few mild foxing spots to fore edge of book block with same and light dust spotting to top edge.Dust Jacket- Minor general shelf rubbing with a couple of small nicks to top rear panel- up to 4 mm approx and disguised chip to head of spine 3 mm approx in depth. No notable soiling. Non price clipped - cover 12/6. Now in a removable proprietary protective sleeve.No other notable defects to book or jacket).
