About This Item
London: Cassell, 1901. Reprint in Sept 1901, of First edition November 1900, written by a special correspondent of the "Daily News". Signed by author below frontis portrait, but this may be printed. Village library copy with one attractive stamp at start of first chapter, accompanied by pencilled name, dated 1912. Red covers with black lettering on spine and upper cover, both covers have black illustrations, 303pp, grey endpapers. "Pictures" in title refers to word pictures as the only illustration is frontis. Covers have modest wear and bumping to head and foot of spine, with a couple of light marks. Spine is slightly sunned. Hinges cracking, but holding well. Light foxing to dusty page edges and prelims. Book is very slightly cocked, but clean and solid for its 110 years. Ref:114814. Reprint. Buckram. G+/N/a. 13x19.5cm.
