About This Item

South Africa: The Brenthurst Press. Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket. 1994. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 090907951X . Hardcover with dustjacket, one of 850 copies bound in cloth with two ribbon bookmarks, "The majority of the illustrations appearing in this book have been drawn from the splendid Brenthurst collection of Africana, and they record, before the days of the camera, the Cape as it appeared during the years 1806 to 1872. The text imparts a flavour of the social life of the new order which, by precedent, convention and imitation, was to change the outlook and habits of the population for ever." Book is flawless except for a name written neatly on the second front end-paper, dustjacket is scuffed on the rear panel and has a couple of short edge-tears, the jacket is clean and presentable, the front panel, spine and flaps are quite attractive, and a professional (removable) mylar cover is included, 236 pages, includes a Select Bibliography .
