Volume five in Marcel Proust's famous seven-part Remembrance of Things Past series, first published in 1923, in a very nice Modern Library copy. Also known as "The Prisoner." Complete and unabridged, translated from the French by C. K. Scott Moncrieff. With a biographical sketch of Proust, and bibliography; in dark red dust jacket. --- In Toledano spine 10 / green cloth / ML hex logo blindstamped to front cover / gilt-stamped spine titling & torchbearer / grey Kent endpapers / jacket style i, verso lists titles in ML catalogue, but no total number. Likely published c.1965 (though 1956 date appears in book). ML #120.3. --- A well-preserved copy: clean, tightly-bound and bright though publisher/distributor rubberstamping to front free endpaper. Price-clipped dust jacket also in excellent shape but with minor rubbing, mild sunning to spine and chafing & crease to edges; protected in new removable mylar wrapper.; 12mo 7" - 7-1/2" tall; [10], 563, [2, ads] pages .
