Weller, geologist, explored the northwest provinces of China between 1937-1938 and found the first major oil fields in China. Travel along the Old Silk Road at edge of Gobi Desert, visits to the Thousand Buddha Caves, escape from the Japanese army through the Yangtze River gorges.
