Paris: Gide, 1838. First edition. A map from Dumont D'Urville's "Voyage au Pole Sud...". This map charts the South Shetlands and South Orkneys, with the tracks of the the Astrolabe, Weddel & Bransfield. The ice banks & mountains are shown in relief by hachures and bathymetric soundings. Track of Weddell and Bransfield shown as well as Dumont d'Urvilles. With the blindstamp in the margin for "Gide, Editeur Paris", as usual. Double folio 21 3/4 x 17 1/2" plus ample margins. Paper in excellent condition, a couple of closed tears in margin strengthened, overall, very good condition.
