He came to America in 1780 and served with French troops for three years and was the principal liaison between George Washington and the French commander in chief. His work, which included a description of his travels and a record of his recollection of the American War of Independence, is considered one of the first trust-worthy account of life in the United States and accurate account of the War. This is a good example of his work.
