Over 1048 pages, 42 single-page colored general maps of England and Wales, a large folding map of Yorkshire contained in the front pocket, and 6 fold out colored maps, and a fold out (several folds) map of the Mail Road from London to Dublin
FINE CONDITION. In a remarkable unused condition. Text block is tight, crisp, clean and unmarked. Owner's signature on front endpaper: "Mrs. Be??gon July 1822". Bound in contemporary calf with marbled endpapers. Covers with patina and slight signs of wear. The rear cover has a clever leather strap incised in such a way as to hold the traveler's tickets. The "Companion" contains a wealth of detailed information for travel in the Kingdom in the early 19th century. Included are details on Turnpike roads, Routes of Provincial Stage Coaches, Rivers and Navigable Canals, Packet Boats, etc. ( See photo of table of contents to see a complete listing).
