About This Item
Washington: GPO, 1963. ii, 479-570a, vii, plain printed self-wraps bear a small snag on cover leaf, very good copy. Lens the skilled debater gives inquisitor Sourwine some resistance; about 2/3 of texts here consist in oral testimony, the remainder being previously published writings by Lens. Hearing before the Subcommittee to Investigate the Administration of the Internal Security Act and other Internal Security Laws on the Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, Eighty-Eighth Congress, first session. "Mr. Lens, I show you what purports to be the text of a speech or lecture delivered by you on the subject of the American labor movement before the Indian Labour Forum, Queensway, New Delhi, May 26, 1953. I recognize that no man who makes as many speeches as you do could be expected to remember the details of the speech you made at that time. But can you, by glancing at that, tell us whether it appears to be the text of the speech you made? MR. LENS. No; I can't do that this hastily. I doubt very much that any body took that speech, but-- MR. SOURWINE. I will state for the record that this [transcription] was secured from the records of an agency of the U. S. Government" &c &c, p.526.
