Kraus, Hans Peter: Catalogue 137: Important Works in the field of Science. 1974, 4to, 90pp, 87 items described, numerous illustrations, one color and one fold out plate. The Georg Tannstetter Collection. In this catalogue are ìncluded 11 scientific works from the library of Georg Tannstetter, German Humanist ( 1482-1535), also known by his Latin name Collimitius. He was a noted professor of astronomy and medicine at Vienna University where he held the offices of Dean and Proconsul repeatedly, and the personal physician to both Maximilian I and Ferdinand L Tannstetter was closely connected wìth Konrad Celtes and his Viennese cìrcle and is listed as an honorary member of the Sodalitas Danubia, the Austrìan branch of Celtes' lìterary club. Most of the treatises are incunabula, apparently collected by Tannstetter during the first decade of the 16th Century. Books from the library of F. X. von Zach. The catalogue also contains five volumes from the library of the German astronomer Franz Xavier Freiherr von Zach (1754-1882) includìng three extremely rare works by Huygens.
