About This Item

London: British Museum, 1911. Hardcover. G+ (Ex-library, with markings and spine label, small bookplate on inside front cover, pocket at rear, cover has sustained moderate wear at top & tail of spine, but original hinges are tight, & pages have not aged.). Three quarters red & maroon leather, tooled at edges, 344 pp. + 42 BW plates. A coin collector's dream. "The present Catalogue is intended to supplement the two volumes of the Catalogue of 'Imperial Byzantine Coins in the British Museum' published by the Trustees in 1908 [and available through Mullen Books], and contains a description of the coins of the Vandals and Ostrogoths and of the Lombard Kingdom and Lombard Duchy of Beneventum." (Preface) Compiler Warwick Wroth was the Assistant-Keeper of Coins and Medals for the British Museum. All plates appear at the end of each volume. Indexes and Appendices provide lists of kings and emperors, mints, and remarkable inscriptions.
