Limited edition of 6000 with bound-in original lithograph engraved by the artist for this edition. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall; 211pp. with 161 captioned color reproductions; photos of the artist; 137 full page lithographs; 1 sketch, and 17 reproductions of original posters; biography. Preface in English, French and Japanese; captions in English and French. Light grey cloth boards with artist's signature stamped in black to front board, black spine titles. Volume is in fine, unread condition; unclipped jacket is fine with very light shelf wear.
Bernard Cathelin (1919-2004) was a French Impressionist and Modern painter and a member of the School of Paris which included Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, De Buffet, Brianchon and others. Cathelin was famous for oil paintings and lithographs with a subtle richness of texture and colour; his three favorite themes were bouquets, landscapes, and portraits of women.
