A fine copy in half red leather on red cloth with gilt titles and design and raised band on spine Gilt school (The Leys School) heraldic crest on front cover Attractive marbled endpapers The book appears to have been a special finely bound copy for presentation as a school prize A bookplate on the front pastedown awards the book to R Holroyd for the Moulton Essay VI, June 1916, and is signed by the school's second Head Master, WTA Barber
Virtually no visible signs of wear, just very slight rubbing of the gilt design on the front cover A very attractive volume that would enhance any library shelf
The Leys School is a co-educational independent school in Cambridge, England Originally opened in 1875 as a boys only school, it began admitting girls in the 1980's It is noteworthy that the student awardee, Mr Holroyd, would have been a classmate of the author James Hilton, who wrote Lost Horizon and Goodbye Mr Chips The latter work was based on Hilton's experience at Leys 1915-1918
