'Catriona' is a sequel to Stevenson's earlier novel 'Kidnapped' and follows the same central character, David Balfour. A smart copy of this work. 'Catriona' begins by recounting the attempts of David Balfour to gain justice for James Stewart who has been arrested and charged for the Appin Murder of 1752. It was first published in 'Atlalanta' magazine This novel was a success, and was adapted into the 1971 film 'Kidnapped' which is based on 'Catriona' and 'Kidnapped'. Robert Louis Stevenson is best known for his works 'Treasure Island' and 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'. He had great celebrity in his lifetime, and his critical reputation has fluctuated since his death. A bright copy of this title. Condition: In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with a few light spots to the boards. The book is slightly cocked. Front hinge is strained but firm. Prior owner's inscription to the rear endpaper, '18 September 1893'. Rear hinge is slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with occasional scattered spots to pages. Overall Condition: Very Good.
