Born in 1857 in South Australia, Sidney Kidman left home aged 13 to work as a sheep drover. Together with his brother he formed a small business droving and trading cattle and horses, S. Kidman & Co Pty Ltd (founded 1899). Kidman went on to become the greatest pastoral landholder in modern history, earning the nickname of "The Cattle King". He died in 1935. Reprint. Boards in d.j..
