About This Item
London: Thomas Bosworth, 1854. x and 336 pages. 5 coloured lithographs (2 of uniformed figures illustrating ways of riding, 3 of a proposed saddle), 2 plans, woodcut. A near fine copy in contemporary tree calf, the original gilt spine has been professionally relaid on a new leather back (see photo). Nolan, riding master of the 15th Hussars, later carried Raglan's orders at Balaclava. He believed that cavalry led with 'speed and determination' could overcome all obstacles.
