New York: Harper & Bros., 1838. First edition. Illustrated with 114 engravings of planets and solar systems, both full-page and in the text. No. 83 in Harper's "Family Library" series. 16mo muslin-covered boards; 422 pp. including index plus 2 pp. ads at front and 6 at rear. Spine missing, cover edges rubbed to boards, two names (one contemporaneous, the other dated 1935); scattered light foxing throughout but text block otherwise bright and clean. Dick believed that all planets in the solar system were inhabited and provides a helpful table on p.305 showing estimates for the number of inhabitants on various planets, coming to a grand total of over 21 trillion in our solar system alone.
