PROCEEDINGS OF A LANDMARK MEETING OF LUMINARIES IN CELL BIOLOGY AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY IN 1939.

10 1/2 inches tall hardcover, blue cloth binding, gilt title to spine, signature of Victor M. Emmel to front free endpaper, [5], 205 pp, black & white illustrations. Very good in custom archival mylar cover. The sixteen papers comprised in this volume were presented in a Symposium on The Cell and Protoplasm at Stanford University, June 30-July 5, 1939. The occasion commemorated the one hundred years of advancement in knowledge of the protoplasmic unit of living things after Schleiden and Schwann's formulation of the Cell Theory.

PROVENANCE: VICTOR M. EMMEL is co-author with EV Cowdry of Laboratory Technique in Biology and Medicine, 1966.
