New York and London: The Century Co., 1889. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Good cloth volume of 6 months worth of the Century Magazine from May to October 1889 bound in gold cloth. Vol. XXXVIII New Series Vol. XVI . Spine is straight and tight,. Fading to spine (this is a unicolor spine and cover that appears to have depended on differences in gloss to distinguish letters form decoration, and those distinctions are now considerably diminished. So the lettering on the spine now gives the appearance of being merely pressed into the material without much difference in color). Light shelf war to bottom oand top of spine but boards and corners are in excellent condition. Water stains to edges of front free end papers and title page and occasionally throughout the volume, but all pages are in straight and in good reading condition. Age toning to all pages commensurate with age. Not ex lib. No markings or tears. There are clusters of about 10-20 pages that appear to be creased as if to mark a page at the top and bottom corners, but these turn out to be manufacturing defects that fold out to be larger than the normal page (irregularly cut). Index. 960 pages.
