Spanjaard inside front cover a nice copy overall with great shelf appeal. 3/4 brown leather with 5 raised-bands. Gilt tooling and devices on the spine and in the compartments. Marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. 232 pp + 42 bw heliogravure plates. Text in French (Chinese Ceramics: Oriental Porcelain, Date of its Discovery, Explication of the Subjects of its Decoration--The Usages of Different Classification). Beginning in the 870s / 1880s Ernest Grandidier became one of the great specialists in Chinese ceramics; chief curator at the Louvre Museum from 1894, his collection is now kept at the Guimet Museum.
