VG+ in cloth/boards (sl wear to slipcase; sl rub/bds). 8vo [14]+85+[5] Cont ains 28 letters of the noted English author, traveler and diplomat (ca. 159 4-1666), including 2 to Ben Jonson and 1 to Francis Bacon; selected by Rich ard J. Walsh and Guy Holt; introduction by Holt. One of 1000 copies (of whi ch 800 were for sale), designed as a student project of the Fine Arts Depar tment, New York University, with typography suggested by Frederic W. Goudy, printed at the printing house of William Edwin Rudge. Bound in 3/4 brown c loth over light brown boards, gilt- stamped spine, plain endpapers, t.e.g., untrimmed; in publisher's brown cardboard slipcase. Signed and dated by Goudy on front free endpaper ("FWGoudy: 1/11/28").
