They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. This copy bears the ink signature of Alexander Janowitz, California Boy's Band. No underlining. No margin notes. Photo illustrated guidebook "for visitors and citizens." Complete with the folding map of San Francisco tipped-in at the end. Remarkably the folding map (16" wide by 12.5" tall) is still crisp and in perfect condition. It shows the city's parks, street car lines (in red), piers, and other points of interest, including the ground plan for the 1915 Panama-Pacific international Exposition (with key to the various buildings). Original cloth-backed tan boards, gilt decorated, and with a printed-paper label on the spine. The boards are thick and quite substantial (not flexible as in some copies). .
