About This Item
Sydney: ABC Books, 1984. Reprint ed.. Hardback small square quarto, dustjacket, very good condition (in very good dustjacket), sepia (brown-tinted) photos, minor edgewear, autograph (author's written dedication). 144 pp. George Aspinall took secret photographs in Singapore, including the Changi camp, and on the appalling Thai-Burma railway, at great personal risk. He processed them on the spot using smuggled chemicals. His photographs are here reproduced in full for the first time. The text was written (in the first person) by ABC journalist Tim Bowden, from interviews for an ABC radio series on prisoners-of-war (POWs). (Written dedication reads: To Doug Aspinall, with kindest regards from George Aspinall and Tim Bowden.).
