Various. - First Edition. Illustrations include a tipped-in frontispiece and twenty-nine other tipped-in plates by various artists.This is an informative work on the life of Charles Dickens and his literary creations, which combines the biography and literary criticism genres. Contents include 'The  Immortal Child', 'Some Pickwickians', 'Family Portraits', and 'Criminal Prototypes'. Edwin William Pugh (1874-1930) was an English writer. He published over thirty books, which included novels, short story collections, and literary biographies. Most of his works focused upon 'cockey school' storylines, with sentimental and melodramatic themes.With an illustrated bookplate to front pastedown belonging to David Brady. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Minimal bumping to extremities with a bit of wear to the extremities as well. Light fading to spine with a few marks to boards, particularly the rear. Prior owner's illustrated bookplate to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout, with the odd spot to the fore edge of text. Very Good
