Dust Jack color is red, white and blue. There is some tears and wrinkles to the dust jacket. Covers are in very good condition with some slight bumping. Front inside flap of DJ is clipped at the corners. Pages are rough cut at the right edge except for the first few pages. There is a date written in pencil on the title page. This was a church library book from the United Brethern Church in Halifax, Pa. There ink stamp is on the bottom page edges and there is a library card and date due card attached to the inside rear cover.

With illustrations and facsimiles. 110 pages plus 4 pages of ads in the rear. A biography of Dickens published almost immediately after his death. In GOOD condition. Moderate to heavy darkening to the wraps with some soiling and a few stray pencil marks. Two small spots of dark soiling along the front fore edge. Heavy chipping along the upper cover and first few pages. Minor tearing and chipping along the rest of the extremities, with some creasing. Diagonal piece of upper rear corner missing. Interior solid with very minor scattered soiling and general darkening.

The Peace Corps was in its infancy then, and memories of John Kennedy were strong among the young volunteers. Sierra Leone was also in its infancy in the first few years after independence, before military coups and tribal warfare became common. The authors forthrightly recount their feelings of loneliness and isolation, and their frightening experiences with secret societies and witchcraft, but their uniquely optimistic "can-do" American attitude brought most through a great life experience.
