Charlie Chaplin Press Conference Press Photograph at The Savoy Hotel 1952
by Charlie Chaplin
- Used
- near fine
- first
London: P.A. Reuters, 1952. First printing. Photograph. Near Fine. Subject of Press Photograph:
This is a very rare Charlie Chaplin photograph that features Chaplin in his classic pose as the Little Tramp in front of a small army of press reporters.
The Charlie Chaplin press conference at The Savoy Hotel was taken upon the evening of his arrival in the UK for the first time in 21 years to promote his new film, Limelight.
Date of the Press Photograph: Sept 23 1952
Event of the Press Photograph:
The reporter's green slip adhered to the back of the press photograph reads:
"CHARLIE Talks To The Press"
"Faced by asmall army of Press reporters and photographers, Charlie Chaplin speaks from a dais at the Savoy Hotel, Strand, Lndon, this evening (Tuesday) soon after his arrival from America.
With his family, he is on a six months visit to Europe and will see the premiere here of his new film 'Limelight'."
Size of Press Photograph: 8.00 x 10.00 inches (approximately)
Condition of the Press Photograph:
The reverse of the Charlie Chaplin press photograph has the P.A. Reuters rubber back stamp and a green paper adhered with the reporters comments.
The Charlie Chaplin press photograph measures and is in Near Fine condition with very minor and barely noticeable small surface creases to the top of the photograph that is only mentioned for completeness.
Important Note:
This is an important Charlie Chaplin press photograph since Chaplin was refused re-entry into the U.S. due to what they believed was a Communist sympathiser. However, on this day Charlie Chaplin was reported in the Guardian newspaper as saying that he was not a Communist.

Description:
This is a very lovely small book of poetry by Dante Gabriel Rossetti with illustrations by Paul Woodroffe. It was published by David McKay, Philadelphia, and dates to circa 1916. This appears to be a special binding, more luxurious than the softcover binding that McKay published, because this one has covers of thick rose-colored suede leather with the title and author impressed deeply into the suede on the front cover and spine. The front and back have double-page illustrations by Paul Woodroffe, as shown, and the title page has a lovely design as well as a facing illustration; there are 3 other illustrations among the 27 pages. The illustrations are in the Arts & Crafts or Art Nouveau style. The page edges are gilt, as shown, and there is a pink ribbon bookmark sewn in. This is the only copy with this binding that I have found. Please use the zoom function to see the great details. This little volume has survived well for 100 years. The interiors are in good, clean condition; the only condition…
