These were voyages of discovery and exploration, and included surveying and charting for the Admiralty and commercial navigation. This is Volume One of a three volume set, one for each of the three voyages. This edition publishes for the first time many of the charts and coastal views from the voyages that were not included in the journals, atlases or portfolios. The first voyage of the Endeavor,1768 to 1771, explored the South Pacific islands, New Zealand and Australia, and searched for the unknown southern continent.
