Original gilt-stamped purple cloth. A checklist of the 440 titles published by Leonard and Virginia Woolf at their Hogarth Press. With illustrations of some covers and dust jackets. Includes description of their three Jeffers books: "Roan Stallion, Tamar +," (No. 167), "Cawdor +" (No. 196) and "Dear Judas +" (No.226). Also included is the revised 1986 edition. Both copies are fine in dust jacket.

First edition. *Describes every publication by The Hogarth Press, from its founding in the dining room at Hogarth House in 1917 until 1938, when Virginia Woolf sold her interest in the Press to John Lehmann. The Hogarth Press published the early poems of T. S. Eliot as well as The Waste Land, all but the first two of Virginia's novels, works by Katherine Mansfield, Robert Graves, Christopher Isherwood, C. Day Lewis, H. G. Wells, Roger Fry, and others, including the first English translations of the major Russian novelists, and the collected papers of Sigmund Freud.
