[7]+104+[12 ad] pages wiyh diagrams and illustrations. Small octavo (7" x5") bound in original publisher's red cloth with black lettering to spine and cover. (Linden - N. 5893; Betts: 8-10) Sixth annual edition. First edition.
Similar to Brand's 1880 directory, but extended in scope. Contents: articles, essays, humorous sketches, a list of the chess clubs and associations of the United Kingdom, names of the addresses of well-known players and of players willing to visit clubs, addresses of chess resorts in London, continental chess resorts, a list of chess periodicals and chess columns, chess laws and prize problems. The 1892 edition did not include articles but directory only.
Condition: Covers soiled, corners and spine heal bumped, old bookseller's stamp to front pastedown else good to very good.
