Pale blue coloured end pages. Red coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper with gold and black coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. The second, of the author's 'Valois' romances set in the 16th century; this book deals with the titular character as he witnesses the ill-fated romance of Dame de Monsoreau and Count de Bussy, Whose romance could not withstand the tensions within the French Royal family in the reign of Henry III. Softening and bumping of the back strip edges and a little bumping of the top book corners. Light age toning and a few marks to the text block edges. I rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with sunning to the back strip. A little chipping of the back strip edges and to the top book corners. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
