About This Item

Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1953. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good/Very Good. Large 8vo. Pp. x, 445. Index. Bound in full black cloth with gilt lettering stamped on spine. Slight soiling to fore-edge. Dust jacket, price-clipped, is now in a removable, clear archival sleeve. A nuanced reading of the friction between Stilwell and Chiang Kai-shek, and other aspects that thwarted China's WWII effort. With reference to John Paton Davies, and Colonel Dave Barrett, who led the Observers' Mission to Yenan, known as the Dixie Mission. Who lost China? Better yet, was China ours to lose?
