About This Item

Stanford, California: Stanford University Press, Stanford, 1950. Second Edition, revised. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Signed by Author. Remarkably scarce in the trade in this state and condition, being DOUBLE-SIGNED, first by Donaldina Cameron (a.k.a. "Lo-Mo") underneath her black-and-white photograph at frontis, then also at half-title by the author, inscribed to Mark Mott, dated to 1952. Compelling biography of a "little Scottish woman" who spent decades fighting against opium dens, prostitution and child-slavery affecting girls in Chinatown, raiding brothels and opium dens in the process and legally adopting them for their safety and healing. Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound, internally clean hardcover copy, with unbruised tips, neat and tidy paste-downs; not ex-library, with neither highlighting nor underlining. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, showing moderate wear, protected by a plastic coat, price-clipped. xiii + 197 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
