There are many architectural plans and drawings, one full color plate, two color drawings, four 2-color ordination certificates, a 2-color map and two tissue-guarded fold-out diagrams. Additionally, four large folding plans printed on heavy paper are inserted into a pocket affixed to the inside rear cover. The book includes Tables of Plates and Sketches, Index and Chronology. Richly bound in dark blue morocco leather boards with tan morocco leather spine. Calligraphic gilt stamping on front cover, title gilt stamped on spine. Pages clean and supple; very slight foxing to outer edges, otherwise fine. Cover is fresh and unworn. Binding and hinges firm, intact and straight. Danish architect Johannes Prip-Moller first traveled to China in 1921, commissioned to work on projects for missionary societies by the Circle of Architects, a Christian professional society. He later devoted himself to the study of Buddhist monasteries, both the architectural and social structures.
