About This Item

London: Andre Deutsch, 1957. First Edition. First Impression. Octavo (19.25cm); red cloth-covered boards, with titles stamped in gilt on spine; dustjacket; [6],7-256pp. Bookplate signed by the author loosely laid in, with the following holograph notes written in an undetermined hand on the front pastedown: "André Deutsch Ltd / Don Mills, Ont 2564-300 / London Eng. Publishers." Hint of foxing to upper edge of textblock, else very Near Fine. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced 13s. 6d. net), gently spine-sunned, with light wear to extremities, some mild dust-soil, and a few tiny tears that are tape-mended on verso; Very Good+. The Jewish Canadian author's third novel. While not explicitely marked as such, it is at least possible this was a file copy held by the Andre Deutsch offices in Don Mills, Ontario.
