Water stain visible on lower corner blank fep and up to title page of book (three pages, nothing obscured) The author has dedicated this book to "The Queen" (Victoria) and named the "Albert N'yanza in memory of the late illustrious and lamented Prince Consort" (Albert) 499 pages including index with some tanning. Separation inside front and back hinges. Color map of The Albert N'yanza has been mended with tape in one spot and has an inch tear along fold in another spot. Every page has a beautifully decorated engraved border: angels, cherubim, seraphim at the top and an open bible centered among flourishes at the bottom. There are also several hundred full page black and white engraved illustrations. Dark brown endpapers. Covers are brown cloth with bevelled edges. They are decorated with gilt titles and illustrations and black decorations. Ingram Cobbin (1777 - 1851) was an English minister. When ill heath forced his retirement from the pulpit, he turned to writing hymns and biblical and scholastic works.
