About This Item
London: Chapman and Hall Ltd, 1891. Half-Leather. Very Good Plus. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Type: Z A super eight volume set bound in half brown leather with yellow and brown marbled boards. 5 raised bands to the spines with gilt embossed lettering of the title, author and volume between the bands. Marbled end papers and fore edges. Frontispiece plates to all volumes, though four volumes are missing the tissue guards. A little splitting to the front inner hinge betwen the preliminary blank page and half title page in volume I, though the board and pages remains firmly attached. Slightest of bumps to the head of the spine of volumes I + IV. Slight rubbing to the corners of the books. Volumes III, V, VI, VII, and VIII are particularly fresh and clean. Volumes I, II and IV have light foxing to the fore edges and with a few light scattered foxspots to the margins of a few pages - most noticable to volume IV. Otherwise the volumes are clean, tight and well preserved. A very good copy of this set.
