United Kingdom: John Smith and Son. Good. 1843. First Edition. Hardcover. A good 1843 1st edition hardcover in original half bound boards with bright rubbed green cloth. The leather tips are very rubbed with losses, the leather spine with traditional five raised bands is rubbed to the surface and very rubbed/bumped to the ends with loss at the heel and a wee separation at the gutter. Internally the front endpaper has apparently been professionally replaced with a previous owner's plate on the front pastedown (Lewis Clapperton, Glasgow) and beautifully clean pages with marbled text-block edges. Unfortunately the frontispiece is missing. A very nice copy of an original title. Carefully packaged and despatched within 48 hours from our wee bookshop in Scotland.; 60x40; 434 pages .
