Paris: Furne et Cie, 1844. Emile Augier (1820-1889) became a very popular dramatist; thi is a Very Good (Plus) copy his first play, a comedy. Uncommon to scarce. Marbled paper-covered boards, quarter-bound with green leather tips and spine. Five raised bands and titling in gilt (with date "1844" at the foot). Clean text; 64 pages. Very occasional spotting throughout; textblock remains bright and clear; riibbon marker. Binding is signed by Poustoux. Armorial bookplate of Helen Vincent on the front paste-down .Lightly rubbed at the margins. A very attractive book.. First Edition. Quarter-Bound. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
