Book recounts some of the experiences of an ex-public schoolboy who became a professional circus clown. It tells the story of a summer tour through England, describing the daily life of the circus people and the adventures, grave and gay, which they encounter. It is full of their lore and legend, and of the author's love for them and their animals.

Putnam, 1961. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1961. No Edition Remarks. 223 pages. No dust jacket. Brown cloth with gilt titles to spine. Includes photographic plates. Upper text block edge red. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Pencil inscriptions to rear pastedown. Endpapers a bit rubbed. A few dog-eared corners. Boards have some edge wear, with slight bumping and fraying to corners; spine ends moderately crushed and rubbed. Slightly scratched, rubbed and marked overall. Slight splits to joints. Small blue mark to front. A few liquid droplet marks to spine. Book has a moderate forward lean. Gilt is bright.
