About This Item
Nashville, Tennessee: Cumberland House, 2008. Paperback. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7?" - 9?" tall. Cumberland House, 2008. Paperback in Very Good Condition. B/w illustrations throughout. Tan illustrated wraps very clean and unmarked, with illustrations of various generals and a battle scene, light wear to corner tips; binding is tight, solid and square. Internals in Fine Condition-clean, no marks, no creases, not toned. The Civil War had its share of goats and scapegoats. When the expected quick resolution did not happen, the press and politicians started the blame game. After the war, controversies abounded as the survivors re-fought the battles with explanations and accusations, assigning blame to goats and scapegoats alike. Donald Winkler looks at the politicians and generals who failed miserably on the battlefield and at those who were blamed for those failures. He clarifies the faultfinding and exoneration of some of the most glaring disasters and failures of the war. 378pp. Epilogue, Sources, Index. 8vo. 2008, Cumberland House.
