London: Ackermann and Co. Original Wraps. Poor. R.R. McIan. Two volumes, separate, in original stiff wraps with a thin cloth binding. Thess volumes appears to be whole unto themselves, labeled Part XI and XII at the upper left corner of the cover, and perhaps issued either before or separately and in conjunction with the two volume work by the same author and illustrator. No bibliographic information pertaining to these particular pieces, or any publications of this work in parts, could, at the present, be found. Part XI has three full color illustrated plates, a black and white illustrated cover, a first and last blank endpaper, 6 pages of text for two of the clans, with 4 pages of text for the third. The three clans in this part are the Clann Mhoraidh-the Murrays, The Mac Donalds, and Clann Pharlain- The Mac Pharlans. In POOR/FAIR condition. All pages are loose and DETACHED within the covers. There is very heavy wear to the extremities, especially along the fore edge. The wear is moderate to heavy chipping, mostly to the lower corner, with loss of the margins in this area, resulting in a rather tattered look in this section. The rest of the extremities have relatively minor wear, nothing close to the extent of the lower corner. The covers themselves are darkened and are soiled, with some scuffing as well. Very large dampstain covering almost the entire front cover, not affecting text or plates. The number 3 in pencil with a 2 inch underline and an initial are written in at the top left corner of the front cover. The rear cover displays some foxing and heavier soiling. The text is clean but the pages are darkened, as are the illustrated plates. The colors on the plate still appear vibrant, with the darkening noticeable around the page extremities. There is also some faint paint smudges on some of the pages, which I believe to have been from the coloring of the plates themselves. Overall a FRAGILE piece, in POOR/FAIR condition, with three color plates that are still attractive and vibrant. Part XII has three full color illustrated plates, a black and white illustrated cover, 2 blank endpapers, 6 pages, 4 pages, 4 pages of text, each corresponding with the clan they describe, as well as a blank page separating each illustration from the text. This volume appears to be whole unto itself, labeled Part XII at the upper left corner of the cover, and perhaps issued either before or separately and in conjunction with the two volume work by the same author and illustrator. Three clans are detailed in this volume: the Mac Donalds of Glenco, the Camerons, and the Lamonds. In POOR/FAIR condition. All pages are loose and DETACHED within the covers.
