First edition of a book of poetry written by an early Emory College President Alexander Means (1801-1883). This copy has an inscription written inside by a former slave of Means to his wife. Means began his career as a physician and was later an inventor and poet philosopher. He is credited with being an early experimenter in harnessing electricity.
