"This will be the last volume of Coast Causerie in this form. I hope the writing has served its purpose. For when the series of articles began a couple of years ago the world was at war. And to provide a lighter note of reading as a contrast to the daily columns of misery and bloodshed, the Coast Causerie began its life. And so we've travelled the coastline. We've examined ruins, we've talked to natives and found some folklore. We have sailed and fished and amused ourselves in general. Now the war is over. If these volumes have helped to interest people in the coast, the fun of writing them has been quite justified." .
