About This Item

The Folio Society, 1968. Hardback - in Slip Case (No Dust Wrapper.). Very Good - in Very Good Slipcase. Gently faded at the spine.. James Gillray (Engravings). Hardback - in Slip Case. Physically 9” x 5¾” (0.8 kg); 276pp; Edited by John Derry; Illustrated by James Gillray (Engravings); First in this edition. From the introduction: “William Cobbett is best remembered as the greatest of English political journalists. He was no political thinker, for his mind was too warped by prejudice and too easily moved by emotion for him to attain any real depth or consistency as a theorist. And although for the last few years of his life he represented Oldham in the reformed House of Commons, he was singularly ineffective as a practising politician. It is as a journalist and traveller that he is familiar to posterity.” || The book is on my shelves and will be carefully packed and posted from the pastoral paradise of Peasedown St. John, Bath, by a real bookseller in a real book shop - with my personal guarantee and my beady eye on the Consumer Contracts Regulations. About BookLovers of Bath

BookLovers of Bath is set in the pastoral idyll of Peasedown St. John in Somerset (God's Own Country) in the south west of England. My wife and I owned the village Post Office until the modern world caught up with us in 2014. At that point I converted the premises to a small book shop, Fact or Fable, with a stock of around 4,000 titles in stock. I've been selling books worldwide since 1997 and rather hope to get the hang of it shortly…
