COBRA is an acronym using the first two letters of the following cities: Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam--where the adherents of this post-war movement and their followers reside. Most painted or sculpted in a neo-expressionist, primitivist style, sometimes associating their cultural productions with larger social and cultural goals. Some, notably Asger Jorn and Constant, were affiliated with the politically radical and iconoclastic Situationists in France, whereas Karel Appel developed a kind of aestheticized Art Brut. This is a major collection of their work.. 1st. Paperback. Very Good. 4to. Collectible.
