Dillon Pr, 1996. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Book is clean with a square, tight binding and bright, white pages. Book is both inscribed on the ffep and signed on the title page. Dust jacket has some minor scratches and scuffs and a wear to the edges as well. The story of Colin Powell is an inspiring one. It holds all the elements of the American dream. The son of immigrant parents from Jamaica, he grew up in the rough-and-tumble area of the South Bronx. His neighborhood had every imaginable ethnic group, with no one considered a minority. Colin's grades in school were average, and his parents were worried that he was not applying himself. But his leadership skills developed early on the streets of New York. And at the City College of New York (CCNY), when he discovered ROTC (Re-serve Officers Training Corps), his grades leaped to A's. He liked the structure of the Army and decided to make it a career. After distinguishing himself in the ROTC, Powell headed for Fort Benning, Georgia, for infantry and ranger training. Then, while stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, he met Alma Vivian Johnson, who was then a graduate student at Emerson College in Boston. They were married in Birmingham, Alabama, Alma's home city. She remained there with her parents when Colin shipped out to Vietnam. Colin Powell's career was soon on the fast track. He made his mark in every assignment. His superiors liked him because he could get things done and had a winning personality. After two tours in Vietnam, he earned a master's degree in business administration at George Washington University, achieving straight A's. From there he was selected as a White House fellow. Powell was climbing the military ladder and soon would gain his four stars as a general The book you see in the images is the actual book we have for sale. Why pay more?
